From the desk of Membership Chairperson:

Pugliese Lodge in LA needs more active members. Our corps of Officers and a few loyal members that always participate are searching for help with our scholarship, education and community programs. As Membership Chairperson, I encourage you to share information with our Officers that would help us increase our membership.

Things have changed from the days of our Parents and Grandparents when religion, language, and traditional values kept people together in a community and clubs. Now our interests and those of our children and friends are different. The need to reach new and younger members means providing activities that appeal to this segment of our population. What worked in the past may not work now. I would like to try using a system of letters, phone calls and personal contact to recruit and retain members. We often complain about "not having enough time". In truth we could make the time for what we choose to do if we have the will. Our meeting location at Casa Italiana is in the heart of LA – right next door to the 100 year old St. Peters Italian Church. What better location to keep alive the old customs, if that is our want? Or, working together we will find a location maybe more attractive to our future needs.
